John o' Groats
Local highlightJohn o’ Groats marks the traditional end of the Land’s End to John o’ Groats run, and the famous signpost draws a steady stream of cyclists and end-to-enders for a photo. It isn’t actually the most northerly point — that’s Dunnet Head to the west — but the views across the Pentland Firth to Orkney are the real reward, and summer passenger ferries cross to South Ronaldsay. Wick has the nearest station, about 22km south.
