Heckington’s eight-sailed windmill is the only survivor of its kind in the country, its unusual sail count built to catch every scrap of fen wind. The village also has an elaborately carved 14th-century church, St Andrew’s, a showpiece of the Decorated style. Both stand within a short walk of Heckington station, which is on the doorstep on the Sleaford–Boston line.
