Frinton-on-Sea kept itself a dry town for over a century — its first pub, the Lock and Barrel, opened only in 2000, against fierce local objection. The resort is otherwise all Edwardian restraint: a broad greensward above the beach, rows of huts and a long sandy shore. Frinton station sits just back from the front.
