Fraserburgh — “the Broch” locally — is one of Scotland’s biggest white-fish and shellfish ports, out at the north-east corner of Buchan. Up on Kinnaird Head stands Scotland’s first mainland lighthouse, lit in 1787 by converting an old castle tower; it’s now the centrepiece of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses. There’s a long sandy beach south of the harbour.
