Aberaeron was laid out from 1805 by the Rev. Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne, who turned a river mouth into a planned Georgian harbour; Edward Haycock designed the Regency terraces that now stand painted in bright blocks of colour around the quay. It’s an open town, good for a slow wander along the harbour walls, with seafood on the front and the honey ice cream sold at The Hive on the Quay. The Harbourmaster sits right on the water.
