Winsford Hill
Local highlightWinsford Hill is open heather common on Exmoor, grazed by half-wild ponies and studded with Bronze Age barrows — the Wambarrows — near its crown. Tracks cross it freely in every direction, and the ground falls away to long views south towards Dartmoor. Open access common land, above the village of Winsford, where the Royal Oak Inn makes a good base.
