A thatched inn stands at the centre of Winsford, one of Exmoor’s prettiest villages deep in the combes. The Royal Oak has exposed beams and a traditional dining room, and makes a comfortable base for walks up onto Winsford Hill and over to the ancient clapper bridge at Tarr Steps.
