Winsford is threaded by the little Winn and the River Exe, crossed by a cluster of low bridges and fords packed into the village. A thatched inn, the Royal Oak, stands at its centre, and Winsford Hill rises above with its Exmoor ponies and Bronze Age barrows. Deep in the moor, best reached by car.
