The Skyspace is one of James Turrell’s meditative chambers — a domed stone room on a hilltop above Kielder Water, with a circular opening in the roof that frames nothing but sky. It’s at its best around dusk, when hidden lighting plays against the changing colour overhead. A short uphill walk leads up to it from the car park, which is open through the day. It’s part of Kielder’s wider art and architecture trail, near the observatory.
