Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.

Kielder Observatory sits high on a forest hillside under some of the darkest skies in England, at the heart of Northumberland’s International Dark Sky Park. It runs evening events year-round, from beginner star nights to aurora watches, with telescopes and astronomers on hand. Everything is ticketed and books up well ahead, so plan before you travel — there’s no casual drop-in. Wrap up properly; it gets cold on that hill even in summer.
