The Harthope Valley climbs quietly from Wooler into the heart of the Cheviots, following the Harthope Burn between rounded green hills. A narrow dead-end road runs up much of it, giving easy access to riverside spots and the start of walks onto Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot. It’s one of the gentler ways into these hills — and a fine picnic-and-paddle valley on a warm day.
