The Chillingham wild cattle are a herd of around 130 white, red-eared beasts that have lived enclosed in this park for centuries, never tamed and never crossed with other stock. You can see them only on a guided walk with the warden, who leads small groups out to find the herd — they roam freely, so a sighting isn’t guaranteed. Tours run seasonally and should be booked ahead. Keep your distance when you do find them; these are genuinely wild animals.
