The Gate Inn is an unspoilt old pub beside a stream at Marshside, on the Chislet marshes near Canterbury. Bare boards, a wood fire and a garden where you can feed the ducks — a straightforward country local that also does food. Herne Bay station is about 5km to the north-west.
