Drovers once rested their herds at Newcastle on Clun on the long walk east, and the Crown carries on as a refuge in this far-western corner of the county, close to Offa’s Dyke. It’s a walkers’ inn on the Clun valley road, well placed for a day on the border ridges. Knucklas station is about 8km south.
