An Riabhachan is a Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — reaching 1,128m on the empty ground between Loch Mullardoch and Loch Monar. It’s a long grassy whaleback with a level summit ridge rather than a sharp peak, and it sits a long way from any road. It is usually walked as one of the four Munros on the north side of Loch Mullardoch, usually alongside Sgurr na Lapaich to the east and An Socach to the west, which makes for a big, pathless day. There’s no easy way in, so it’s boots-and-map country, and the level top is easy to lose in cloud.
