A big Victorian park on the edge of Hartburn, Ropner Park was laid out in 1893 after the shipbuilder Major Robert Ropner gave the land to the people of Stockton. It’s been restored close to its original design, with a lake, tree-lined avenues and a bandstand that still hosts concerts in summer. There’s also a café, a play area and tennis courts, all free to use. The Teesdale Way passes close by if you fancy extending the walk.
