Central Parks
Open accessfree to visit at any reasonable time
Central Parks is the green spine running through the middle of Southampton: six linked parks — West Park, East Park, Palmerston Park, Houndwell, Hoglands and Queen’s Park — laid out by the council between 1854 and 1866 on old common grazing land. East Park holds Lutyens’ Cenotaph, his first war memorial and the template for the one later built in Whitehall. Free to walk through at any time, and Southampton Central station sits right on the western edge.
