The Deeside home of the royal family, Balmoral was rebuilt for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and finished in 1856. The gardens and grounds open to visitors daily from April to the end of July, before the family arrives for the summer; since 2024 you can also see some of the castle’s interior rooms on a booked tour. There’s an admission charge. The Balmoral Cairns and Royal Lochnagar distillery are both a short way off.
