Ballater is the tidy Victorian town that serves Royal Deeside, and the Balmoral Arms is a village inn right in the middle of it. A comfortable base for walks up the valley or a day out at nearby Balmoral, with food and rooms. Deeside lost its railway years ago, so you’ll be arriving by road — Ballater is about 65km west of Aberdeen.
