St Michael’s is Eriskay’s Catholic church, built in 1903 on a rise above the village. Two things mark it out: the altar rests on the bow of a boat, and the bell came from the German battleship SMS Derfflinger, scuttled at Scapa Flow. It’s a short climb up from the village pub; Eriskay is joined to South Uist by causeway.
