John Betjeman is buried here, in the churchyard of the little church he wrote about — St Enodoc, half-sunk in the dunes above Daymer Bay near Trebetherick. Its crooked, leaning spire was once so buried in sand that the vicar had to be let in through the roof to hold the annual service. Open access, across the golf links or round the bay on foot from Rock. Roche station is well inland to the south-east.
