There are two Quarr Abbeys on this stretch of shore, and it’s the newer one you visit. The medieval house is a low ruin in the fields; a few hundred yards west stands a startling brick church of 1907, still home to a Benedictine community keeping the daily offices. Visitors are welcome at services, and there’s a tea shop, farm shop, gallery and gardens. Osborne is five miles west.
