Brecon Cathedral
Local highlightBrecon Cathedral began as a Benedictine priory church, founded on the orders of Bernard de Neufmarché as a daughter house of Battle Abbey. It was rebuilt in the Gothic style around 1215, and only became a cathedral in 1923, when the diocese of Swansea and Brecon was created. It stands within a walled close on the northern edge of Brecon, and is open daily.
