Vatersay’s two great beaches sit back to back across a narrow neck of machair — this is the Atlantic-facing one, wilder and with more surf than the sheltered bay on the other side. It’s a two-minute walk across the isthmus from Vatersay village. Blissfully quiet for most of the year.
