Tarbert (An Tairbeart) is the main village of Harris, set on the narrow neck of land where North and South Harris almost pull apart. It’s the ferry port for the crossing to Uig on Skye, and home to the well-known Isle of Harris Distillery, maker of its own single malt and a hugely popular gin. A handy base with shops and places to eat, sitting on the A859 spine road.
