The Isle of Harris Distillery in Tarbert calls itself a “social distillery” — a community-minded venture built to bring jobs to the island. It’s best known for Harris Gin in its distinctive blue bottle, flavoured with local sugar kelp, and now for The Hearach, its first single malt, released in 2023. There are tours and a shop right in the middle of Tarbert; booking a tour ahead is wise in season.
