North Tolsta is the last village on the road up the east coast of Lewis, above the superb sands of Traigh Mhòr and Garry beach with its sea stacks. Just beyond, the road ends abruptly at the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ — built by Lord Leverhulme for a coast road that was never finished. Reached on the B895 running north from Stornoway.
