Traigh Mhor, Tolsta
Local highlightA vast sweep of golden sand backed by dunes and machair on the north-east coast of Lewis, at the end of the road past Tolsta. It’s one of the island’s finest beaches and rarely busy. Carry on north on foot and you reach the Bridge to Nowhere, a grand road bridge that leads onto open moor — the coast road it was built for was never finished. Parking is at the beach off the B895.
