Huntly grew up as a market town at the meeting of the Deveron and the Bogie, on the edge of the Speyside whisky country. Its centrepiece is the ruin of Huntly Castle, the old stronghold of the Gordon family, standing at the north end of the town beyond the square. The GlenDronach Distillery is a few miles east, and Huntly’s own station is right in the middle of town.
