Shoreham Cross
Local highlightA chalk cross on the down above Shoreham, cut in 1920 for the village men killed in the First World War.
This cross was cut into the hillside above the Darent valley in 1920, a memorial to the men of Shoreham who died in the First World War. Like the Lenham cross further east, it was covered over in the Second World War to deny it to enemy bombers, then restored. Both stand on the scarp of the Kent Downs.
