Approximate location — this spot is pinned to the nearest village, so the exact point may be a little way off.
From the lane it looks like an ordinary Essex bungalow, which was rather the point. Behind the front door a long tunnel leads down into a huge Cold War government bunker, built to run the region if the bombs fell and now open as a museum, complete with the tongue-in-cheek “secret nuclear bunker” road signs pointing the way. It sits in woods near Brentwood; open in season, with an admission charge.
