The Hartlepool Maritime Experience recreates a Georgian seaport on the marina, with quaysides, shops and a working sail-maker’s around HMS Trincomalee — a frigate launched in 1817 and the oldest British warship still afloat. You can go aboard and below decks, and there’s plenty for children. There’s an admission charge. It makes a good rainy-day option on the Durham coast, close to the marina’s cafés and moorings.
