South Stack is an RSPB reserve on the sea cliffs west of Holyhead, where thousands of guillemots, razorbills and choughs nest through spring and early summer. Over 390 steps drop down to the footbridge and the lighthouse island, completed in 1809, on its stack of rock. The reserve is open and free; Holyhead station is about 4.5km east.
