What sets Mullach Fraoch-choire apart from its grassy neighbours is the crest just below the summit: a line of small rocky pinnacles you thread through, more of a scramble than a walk in places. It is a Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — reaching 1,101m at the northern end of the ridge above Glen Affric. The usual approach comes over A’ Chràileag to the south, starting from the A87 near Loch Cluanie and making a round of the two. The name refers to the heather corrie (a corrie being a bowl scooped into the hillside) on its flank.
