Carn a’ Choire Bhoidheach is a 1,110m Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — on the high, rolling plateau of the Deeside and Lochnagar hills. It’s one of the less distinct Munros: a broad grassy-and-mossy dome that rises only gently from the surrounding tableland, with barely a summit shape to speak of. Almost nobody climbs it on its own. It’s usually taken in on a long round from Glen Muick alongside Lochnagar and the other White Mounth tops like Cairn Bannoch. In cloud the featureless ground makes the top genuinely hard to find, so a map and compass matter here.
