The most northerly Munro in Scotland, a steep-sided hill rising above Loch Hope in the far north of Sutherland

Ben Hope is a Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet — and at 927m it’s the most northerly of them all, out on its own in the flat, watery country of northern Sutherland. The western side falls away in steep crags above Loch Hope, while the usual route up is the grassier southern shoulder, starting near the old drystone tower of Dun Dornaigil. It’s a short but stiff climb, and the top looks out over Ben Loyal and a huge sweep of empty moorland to the north coast. The nearest village, Tongue, is a fair drive away.
