A broad-shouldered Munro next to Ben Nevis, best known for the ski area and mountain gondola on its northern slopes

Aonach Mòr is a Munro — a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m) — of 1,220m, the northern of the two Aonachs just east of Ben Nevis. Its name means the big ridge, though it is in fact a little lower than its neighbour Aonach Beag; the Gaelic refers to bulk, not height. The Nevis Range gondola runs up the north side to the ski slopes, cutting out much of the climb to the two summits, in the Ben Nevis and Glen Coe hills. The summit is a broad, flat plateau, easy going in the clear but disorienting in cloud, with steep corries dropping off the eastern edge.
