Danna sits at the end of a long dead-end road down the Tayvallich peninsula, in Knapdale, reached over a short stone causeway that floods only on the very highest spring tides. It’s a working farm island rather than a place with any single sight, low and green, with a scatter of houses and only a handful of people on the land. Shore paths follow the coast past rocky inlets and small beaches, with open views south-west across the Sound of Jura to the hills of Jura. Across the narrow inlet of Loch na Cille, reached by its own turn off the peninsula road, Keills Chapel is a 12th-century church with an 8th-century high cross, moved inside for safekeeping, that once stood in the open.
