London's largest royal park, roamed by red and fallow deer.
Open accessfree to visit at any reasonable time
Richmond Park covers nearly 1,000 hectares, the largest of London’s royal parks, and has stayed open grassland and ancient woodland since Charles I enclosed it as a deer park in 1637 — some 600 red and fallow deer still roam free there today. It’s both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature Reserve. Free to enter, dawn to dusk; Ham House is a short walk over the river, and the Capital Ring path cuts through the park.
