Cannizaro Park is Wimbledon’s set-piece garden, laid out around the former grounds of Cannizaro House — named for the Duke of Cannizzaro, whose wife kept the title long after he left her for Italy in 1832. The Wilson family replanted much of what survives today in the 1920s, before Wimbledon Corporation bought the estate in 1947 and opened it to the public two years later. There’s a sunken garden and a rose garden among the mature trees, free to walk in daily from early morning until dusk. It backs onto Wimbledon Common.
