Leckmelm is a Victorian shrubbery and arboretum on the shore of Loch Broom, just south of Ullapool, replanted and rescued after decades of neglect. Mature exotic trees — some now enormous — rise among rhododendrons and drifts of spring bulbs. It’s off the A835 and opens seasonally, a low-key stop rather than a grand estate garden.
