Fyvie is a grand baronial pile north of Oldmeldrum, its walled garden replanted as a collection of Scottish-bred fruit — apples and soft fruit raised in the north-east. Beyond it the parkland runs down to Fyvie Loch, landscaped back in the 18th century. The grounds are open year-round and the castle from April to October; it belongs to the National Trust for Scotland, and there’s an admission charge for the house.
