One of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries, Glen Garioch was founded in 1797 in the little town of Oldmeldrum, in the fertile Garioch that once supplied much of the region’s barley. It still makes whisky, and there’s a visitor centre with tours and tastings — booking ahead is sensible. Inverurie station is about 7km to the south-west.
