Chafor is a family-run vineyard at Gawcott, a couple of miles south-west of Buckingham, growing the three champagne grapes alongside Bacchus for its still whites. It opens to visitors most weekends from May to September, with vineyard tours, tastings and pizza evenings run through the season — booking ahead is the safe bet. The rows sit on gently sloping ground said to have been part of a royal hunting forest.
