St Clement’s Church at Rodel is the grandest medieval church in the Western Isles, built around 1520 for the MacLeod chiefs of Harris as their burial place. Inside is the carved wall tomb Alasdair Crotach had made for himself in 1528, reckoned one of the finest in Scotland. It stands at the very south tip of Harris, free to enter, with a car park alongside.
