Lybster was laid out as a planned fishing village, its tiny harbour tucked at the foot of a steep brae down from the main street. It was a busy herring port in its day, and the Waterlines heritage centre by the water tells that story. You’ll find it on the A99, with Wick about 19km to the north-east.
