Over 200 listed buildings crowd into Dunster, a medieval village on the edge of Exmoor. The cobbled main street climbs from the octagonal Yarn Market — built in 1609 for the cloth trade — up towards the Norman castle on its wooded hill. The village is free to wander; the castle and its gardens are National Trust. Busy in season, but worth it.
