Droxford runs along an undulating main street in the Meon Valley, with a Norman church and Georgian frontages. Izaak Walton, author of The Compleat Angler, fished the Meon here in the 17th century. On the disused railway just outside, Churchill and Allied commanders met in a parked train in the days before D-Day in 1944. Botley station is about 10km to the south-west.
