Out along Mull’s wild southern coast, the sea has carved a run of basalt arches and tunnels into the cliffs at Carsaig. Reaching them means a rugged shore walk of several miles from Carsaig pier, over boulders and below overhanging rock, so it’s one for sure-footed walkers who’ve checked the tide. The reward is a genuinely remote, dramatic bit of coast with almost no one else about. Wear boots and give yourself the day.
