Balnakeil Craft Village is a cluster of plain, low buildings near Durness that were put up as a Cold War radar station and never used for it. These days they house artists’ studios and galleries, and Cocoa Mountain, known for its hot chocolate. It’s a good rainy-day stop, handy to pair with a walk on Balnakeil Beach just beyond. Most studios open seasonally, so hours vary.
